About the author

Rick Walkom arrived at Charlotte Pass in the New South Wales Snowy Mountains in 1975, after completing university. He was keen to take a short working holiday with a couple of mates before settling down to a life on the land. It was not to be! This famous, snowbound outpost of winter sport on the roof of Australia seduced and captivated him, and he stayed for fifteen seasons.
